Varicocele drug treatment

Symptoms of varicocele can be relieved by medications such as Maizhiling Tablets, Diosmin Tablets, Sodium Aescin Tablets, Ibuprofen Sustained Release Capsules, and Compound Danshen Tablets. Varicocele may be related to factors such as venous valve insufficiency and increased abdominal pressure. It usually presents with symptoms such as scrotal swelling and pain.

1. Mai Zhiling tablets

The main ingredient of Maizhiling Tablets is horse chestnut extract, which can reduce vascular permeability and reduce venous congestion and edema. This drug is suitable for scrotal distension and pain caused by mild to moderate varicocele and can improve local blood circulation. Mild gastrointestinal reactions may occur during use, and combination with other anticoagulant drugs should be avoided.

2. Diosmine tablets

Diosmin tablets are vasoprotective agents that relieve blood stasis by enhancing venous tone. It has a better effect on the symptoms of varicocele that are aggravated by standing for a long time, and can reduce the moist feeling and dull pain in the scrotum. People with abnormal liver function should use it with caution, and it is recommended to use a scrotal band to fix it during medication.

3. Sodium aescin tablets

Sodium aescin tablets have anti-inflammatory and swelling effects and are suitable for the treatment of varicocele combined with testicular hydrocele. The drug reduces capillary fragility and relieves swelling caused by impaired venous return. It is important to note that it may cause allergic reactions such as rashes, and kidney function should be monitored during medication.

4. Ibuprofen sustained-release capsules

Ibuprofen sustained-release capsules are used for pain control during acute attacks of varicocele. They reduce the inflammatory response by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. It is suitable for scrotal pain that is aggravated after strenuous exercise, but long-term use may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Continuous use for more than 5 days is not recommended.

5. Compound Salviae Miltiorrhiza Tablets

Compound Danshen Tablets improve spermatic vein microcirculation by activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and have a significant effect on patients with symptoms of blood stasis. It can relieve symptoms such as exposed scrotal veins and night pain, but it is necessary to avoid combining it with antiplatelet drugs. People with spleen and stomach deficiency may experience adverse reactions such as diarrhea.

Patients with varicocele should avoid standing for long periods of time or strenuous exercise, and wear loose, breathable underwear to reduce local compression. Cold compresses on the scrotum can be used daily to relieve discomfort, and the buttocks can be elevated during sleep to promote venous return. If drug treatment is ineffective for 3 months or testicular atrophy occurs, interventional surgery or laparoscopic high spermatic vein ligation needs to be considered. Regularly review semen quality and testicular ultrasound, and it is recommended to seek medical advice as soon as possible for those with infertility.
