How to wash a jacket
Hand wash
1. Use neutral detergent, dissolve it in warm water not exceeding 30 degrees, and then soak the jacket for about 5 minutes.;
2. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the dirty parts of the jacket. Be careful not to use too much force.;
3. Use plenty of water for rinsing, and be sure to rinse off the detergent thoroughly.;
4. Do not wring out the jacket. It should be placed directly in the natural environment to dry. At the same time, pay attention to avoid sunlight exposure.;
5. Do not iron your jacket at high temperatures;
6. Unless the jacket is really dirty, there is no need to clean the jacket frequently to avoid damaging the jacket.;
7. In order to better maintain the jacket, water repellent agent should be used regularly to repair and maintain the waterproofness of the jacket.
Machine washable
1. Washing: The washing machine must be able to adjust the appropriate washing rhythm and intensity. When washing the jacket, care should be taken to avoid washing friction from damaging the waterproof coating of the jacket.;
2. Rinsing: The washing machine must have foam self-checking technology, which can completely remove detergent residues and avoid chemical damage to the waterproof coating.;
3. Dehydration: When the washing machine slowly takes out the water from the jacket, it must not damage the coating of the jacket.;
4. Drying: The washing machine can dry the jacket at a low temperature no higher than 55 degrees, which can avoid high temperature damage to the waterproof and breathable coating.; If you can use a professional water-repellent agent, the effect will be even better.
Jacket fabric
The fabrics used in jackets can basically be divided into two categories:
One is ePTFE laminated microporous fabric. Currently, most of them in China are GORE-TEX, DENTIK, EVENT, and 3TO1-TEX. Its waterproof and breathable function is to compound a layer of microporous film on the outer fabric of the clothing. The micropores are smaller than water droplet molecules and larger than gas molecules, which can volatilize its own sweat while blocking rain.
The other is a hydrophilic fabric with PU or TPU coating (or lamination). Its function is achieved by a non-porous waterproof layer and a hydrophilic molecular chain structure. Except for ePTFE lamination, all other brands in use fall into this category.
Comparing these two types of materials:
The advantage of ePTFE fabrics is that they are both waterproof and breathable, especially stable at low temperatures (snow mountain climbers wear this type of clothing due to this feature), and have a wide range of applications. The disadvantage is that the washability is slightly poor and the price is higher.
The advantages of PU fabrics are good durability and low price. The disadvantage is that the air permeability is poor, especially when the ambient temperature is low, due to the instability of material properties, the air permeability will be reduced, and the scope of application is not as wide as the former.
What is a jacket
A jacket, also known as a windbreaker or raincoat, is one of the essential equipment for outdoor sports enthusiasts. Whether you are a city casual person or an ordinary weekend outing enthusiast, whether you are doing medium and long-distance hiking and mountaineering, or professional expeditions, ice climbing, or even climbing seven or eight thousand meters of snow-capped mountains, an all-weather jacket that suits you is a must-have.
The reason why jackets have become the first choice outerwear for all outdoor enthusiasts is due to their all-weather functionality. General jackets are mainly characterized by their waterproof properties. In terms of fabric design and processing, general jackets are made of PU waterproof coating + taped seams. The disadvantage is that the clothes are not very breathable and windproof. Jackets, as the name suggests, are the clothes worn when climbing to the summit. They are one of the must-have equipment for outdoor sports enthusiasts. From the perspective of modern mountaineering, a jacket should have several conditions: First, the structure must meet the requirements of mountaineering. Mountaineering often involves carrying out various activities in harsh environments, including walking with load, technical climbing, etc. The structure of the jacket must be able to meet the requirements of these activities. Secondly, the production materials must meet the requirements of mountaineering. Due to the special environment of mountaineering and the needs of mountaineering, the material of the jacket must be windproof, waterproof, breathable and other requirements.
