Shivering during urination may be caused by physiological factors, prostatitis, urinary tract infection, overactive bladder, abnormal neuroregulation, etc. It usually manifests as involuntary muscle contraction during urination. Most cases are normal physiological reactions. If accompanied by pain or frequent urination, you need to seek medical attention to investigate pathological factors.
1. Physiological factors:
A sudden decrease in bladder pressure during urination may stimulate the sympathetic reflex, causing transient muscle tremors. It is common in cold environments, rapid urination after holding urine for too long or drinking too much water. It is a normal phenomenon of human body temperature regulation and neurofeedback and does not require special treatment.
2. Prostatitis:
Chronic prostatitis may cause pelvic floor muscle spasm and trembling during urination. It is often accompanied by frequent urination, urgency, and perineal distension and pain, and needs to be diagnosed through prostatic fluid examination. For treatment, tamsulosin hydrochloride sustained-release capsules, Qianlieshutong capsules and other drugs can be used to relieve symptoms.
3. Urinary tract infection:
Urethritis or cystitis caused by bacterial infection can cause abnormal contraction of the urinary muscles. Typical symptoms include painful urination, turbid urine, and lower abdominal distension. Routine urine examination shows elevated white blood cells. Antibiotics such as levofloxacin and cefixime can effectively control infection.
4. Overactive bladder:
Unstable contraction of the detrusor muscle can cause a trembling sensation during urination, which is common in middle-aged and elderly people. It may be accompanied by urge incontinence and can be confirmed by urodynamic examination. Commonly used drugs include M-blockers such as solifenacin succinate tablets and mirabegron sustained-release tablets.
5. Abnormal neural regulation:
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy or lumbar disc herniation may affect urinary nerve conduction, leading to muscle coordination disorders. The primary cause needs to be investigated, and neuroelectrophysiological examinations should be performed if necessary. Neurotrophic drugs such as methylcobalamin can help improve symptoms.
It is recommended to maintain a daily drinking volume of 1500-2000 ml of water and avoid excessive intake of caffeine and alcohol. You can try Kegel exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor muscle control and relax your body to reduce tension during urination. If symptoms persist for more than two weeks or hematuria, fever, etc. occur, you should promptly go to the urology department for special examinations such as urinary flow rate and residual urine measurement. In winter, keep your lower body warm and wear breathable cotton underwear to reduce local irritation.
