In fact, there is no magical food that can cure all rhinitis patients. The core principle is to first avoid the food allergens you are allergic to, especially fresh dates, peaches, hazelnuts, and hairy crabs that have cross-reactions with autumn pollen. On this basis, eat more foods with low inflammatory load and can help stabilize the respiratory mucosa. It can indeed relieve a lot of discomfort, and is much more reliable than blindly relying on folk remedies.
During the wormwood pollen season in the fall of the past two years, I suffered from rhinitis that made me sneeze more than a dozen times and bring tears to my eyes. When I checked for allergens, I found out that I was not only allergic to wormwood, but also had a cross-allergic reaction to fresh dates, like many people with autumn pollen allergies. Previously, I chewed crispy dates in autumn, which was equivalent to sucking in pollen and giving myself allergens at the same time. It was strange that it was so comfortable. Later, I stopped eating fresh dates and raw peanuts, which I found to be intolerant. I threw a handful of blueberries when making fruit and vegetable juices every morning, steamed a piece of salmon every two days, and sprinkled some salt without adding too much seasoning. The Omega 3 in it can help reduce the body's inflammatory response. After taking it for less than half a month, I obviously feel that my nasal cavity is no longer as dry and itchy as a pinprick, and the number of sneezes has been reduced by half.
Not all the "rhinitis-friendly foods" mentioned on the Internet are useful. I had previously believed that drinking wild honey and eating raw garlic could cure rhinitis. However, after drinking unprocessed wild honey for three days, my allergy became more severe due to the pollen impurities contained in it. My stomach burned after eating raw garlic for two days, and my nose was still blocked. Later, I asked a doctor and found out that there is no clear clinical evidence that honey is anti-allergic. There are supporting and opposing opinions. If you buy unpurified honey, it may easily contain allergens. And irritating foods such as raw garlic and onions will only temporarily open up the nasal cavity, but will aggravate mucosal congestion later. It is completely worth the loss.
In the past two years, I have been accustomed to boiling a small pot of pear water every afternoon in the afternoon, without adding sugar, cutting two or three thin slices of white fungus and throwing it in. Drinking it warmly makes the whole body moist from the throat to the nasal cavity. I don’t always feel itchy and want to rub my nose because of the strong wind and dryness in autumn. There is no burden. As long as you are not allergic to pears and white fungus, you can drink it.
Of course, don’t overthink the role of food. It can at most help reduce the frequency of attacks and relieve discomfort. If the attack is severe enough to cause swollen eyes and difficulty breathing, don’t rely on food supplements. You have to take medicine and see a doctor. I have a friend who firmly believes that taking carrots to supplement β-carotene can cure allergic conjunctivitis. He persisted for half a month to develop allergic conjunctivitis, and finally managed to suppress it with regular medication.
