During a facial allergy attack, the most important thing to avoid are foods that you are clearly allergic to. In addition, it is best to avoid foods with high histamine levels and highly irritating foods. Do not blindly avoid other foods, which will slow down the speed of skin repair.
Last week, a little girl in my department ate half a mango and her face became swollen. After going to the hospital to prescribe medicine, the doctor specifically told her not only to avoid direct mangoes, but also the yogurt with mango cubes and baked cereals with dried mangoes hidden in them that she usually buys. Otherwise, she must be exposed to trace amounts of allergens repeatedly. It might take half a month to get better.
Many people will wonder, I obviously haven't been found to be allergic to seafood, so why did I eat two bites of shrimp when my face was allergic, and I was so itchy that I couldn't sleep all night? This is actually because the body itself is releasing a large amount of histamine during an allergic attack. Foods such as tuna, sardines, fermented cheese, and leftover green leafy vegetables that have been stored for more than 12 hours have a high histamine content. Even if you eat them normally, eating them at this stage will easily increase the accumulation of histamine, making the symptoms of redness, swelling, and itching more obvious. They belong to the "non-allergenic but aggravating symptoms" type, and there is no need to touch them.
Not to mention spicy hot pot, high-alcohol wine, and particularly strong coffee. When allergic, the blood vessels on the face are already dilated and congested. When stimulated by capsaicin and alcohol, the blood vessels dilate even more. I have seen situations where it is just a little red and itchy, but my eyes can be swollen immediately after eating.
There is also the often-talked about whether to avoid "eating food". In fact, there is no unified conclusion in the academic community. Some people are fine if they eat beef and mutton during their allergy period, while others feel more itchy after eating it. It all depends on your daily dietary reaction. If you usually eat beef and mutton, you are prone to hotness and itchy skin. You should stop for two weeks during the attack period. If you don't have any reaction after eating it, there is no need to specialize in food taboos. After all, sufficient protein can help the skin barrier repair quickly.
I met a friend two years ago who suffered from repeated allergies for more than half a year. He had been strictly avoiding seafood, eggs, and milk for fear of aggravating the condition by eating the wrong things. But when he checked for allergens, he discovered that he was allergic to buckwheat. He had been avoiding crayfish for almost a year, which is embarrassing to say the least.
If you are really in doubt, it is more reliable to do an allergen test than to blindly follow the taboo list on the Internet. After all, everyone has different allergens, and the taboo list that suits others may not be suitable for you.
